Popular Christmas Carols (Lyrics)

Every December Jennifer Ellis performs for corporate Holiday parties, as well as her “Candy Cane” concert for children of all ages. Here are a few of her favorite Christmas carols and their lyrics.

Frosty the Snowman Lyrics

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul,
with a corncob pipe and a button nose
and two eyes made out of coal.

Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say,
He was made of snow but the children know
how he came to life one day.

There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found.
For when they placed it on his head He began to dance around.

O, Frosty the snowman was alive as he could be,
And the children say he could laugh and play just the same as you and me.

Frosty the snowman knew the sun was hot that day,
So he said, “Let’s run and we’ll have some fun now before I melt away.”

Down to the village, with a broomstick in his hand,
Running here and there all around the square saying, “Catch me if you can.”

He led them down the streets of town right to the traffic cop.
And he only paused a moment when He heard him holler “Stop!”
For Frosty the snow man had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye saying, “Don’t you cry, I’ll be back again someday.”

Jingle Bells Lyrics

Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh
Over the fields we go, laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring, making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago, I thought I’d take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright, was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank, misfortune seemed his lot;
He got into a drifted bank and we got upsot

Chorus (Repeat)

A day or two ago, the story I must tell
I went out on the snow, and on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by, in a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed as there I sprawling lie but quickly drove away

Chorus (Repeat)

Now the ground is white, go it while you’re young
Take the girls tonight, and sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay, two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh and crack! you’ll take the lead

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow Lyrics

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we’ve no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

It doesn’t show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

When we finally kiss good night,
How I’ll hate going out in the storm;
But if you really hold me tight,
all the way home I’ll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we’re still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Lyrics

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then all the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you’ll go down in history!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town Lyrics

You better watch out,You better not cry
Better not pout, I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He’s making a list, And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you’re sleeping
He knows when you’re awake
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!

Oh! You better watch out! You better not cry
Better not pout, I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

Sleigh Ride Lyrics

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, Ring ting tingling too.
Come on, it’s lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you.

Outside the snow is falling And friends are calling ‘Yoo-hoo.’
Come on, it’s lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you.

Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, Let’s go, Let’s look at the show,
We’re riding in a wonderland of snow.
Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up, It’s grand, Just holding your hand,
We’re gliding along with a song of a wintry fairy land.

Our cheeks are nice and rosy and comfy cozy are we
We’re snuggled up together Like two birds of a feather would be.
Let’s take that road before us and sing a chorus or two
Come on, it’s lovely weather For a sleigh ride together with you.

Up On the Housetop Lyrics

Up on the housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Santa Claus
Down thru the chimney with lots of toys
To give to all good girls and boys

Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn’t go?

Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down thru the chimney with good Saint Nick

We Wish You a Merry Christmas Lyrics

We wish you a Merry Christmas,  We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Let’s all do a little clapping,  Let’s all do a little clapping
Let’s all do a little clapping and spread Christmas cheer

Let’s high 5 our neighbor,  Let’s high 5 our neighbor
Let’s high 5 our neighbor and spread Christmas cheer

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year

Let’s sway back and forth together,  Let’s sway back and forth together
Let’s sway back and forth together and spread Christmas cheer

We wish you a Merry Christmas,  We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
