Cincinnati Enquirer – Paul Clark – June 2, 2011

Life with Children Inspires Jazz Mom – Jennifer Ellis is one of the few jazz performers who’s seeking a smaller audience. Smaller in stature, not number. The Kenwood mother of two, rejecting the notion that jazz is strictly an adult taste, has recorded a children’s album, “Rise & Shine…It’s Time to Play!” She’ll roll it out for a CD release concert Saturday at the Blue Ash Nature Park Amphitheatre. (PRINT-FRIENDLY)

Jennifer has a way of being able to engage her audience and draw them into the evening’s festivities making it fun and enjoyable for everyone. Hits the old standards with a contemporary feel and energy.”

Keith Lehker, Assistant General Manager, Iron Horse Restaurant,

Jennifer Ellis is an entertainer of children of all ages.  From young toddlers to pre-teens, Jennifer has the ability to mesmerize any audience with her lively music. She even uses Jazz music to teach about History.  We’ve enjoyed working with Jennifer at Cincinnati Museum Center and look forward to working with her in the future.”

Claire Pollock, Director of Public Education, Cincinnati Museum Center,

Vocalist Jennifer Ellis delivers the lyrics of the Great American Songbook with love and freshness; smooth vocals and heartfelt sincerity.  Her up-beat personality shines through connecting to audiences of all ages.”

Mike Thomas, Producing Director of Washington Opera House.

“Jennifer is a musical smorgasbord.  When we first met she was singing jazz standards with a good friends trio.  Her voice was terrific, full bodied and right on everything.  Later, when we got to talking, she told me that she had chased the star-maker machine in LA in a band with her twin sister!  She sent me the LA demos and, boom, there was a whole other side fab of Jen. Then, in a subsequent chat, Jennifer told me that both she and her sister wrote songs for children and that she was planning on doing a jazzish children’s album. Jen knows what she wants, has the palette to pull it off, the experience and the entertainment skills, conceptually, vocally and instrumentally, to reach her goals which she sets very high.”

Stan Hertzman, Artist Manager

Jennifer’s enthusiasm for music is apparent every time she steps into the classroom. Her talent and zest set her apart from so many others. Because of her natural way with children and her understanding of their needs, the students want to learn and please. Her music classes are always the first to fill up. She is a favorite of our students and our parents. She is always professional, appropriate and fun. She is truly one of a kind!”

Julie Rammacher, Director of St. Paul Nursery School,

We recently had the opportunity to have the Jennifer Ellis band perform at our Christmas party in Dec. 2010 at the Savannah Center.  Never having entertainment at any of our past Christmas parties, we were a little unsure of the direction to take for entertainment.  Jennifer’s band played in a jazz format and they were absolutely amazing.  They performed a variety of music that set a perfect tone for the rest of the evening.  The music was never overpowering; just a perfect compliment to the party.  In fact, they actually had one of our employees join them for a couple of songs.  I received so many positive comments from our employees.  I am sure we will use Jennifer’s band in the future and would recommend to anyone that wants to enjoy top-notch entertainment.
