I was thinking that I haven’t officially announced to my Jennifer Ellis Music fans my newest musical adventure… my duo, Runaway Sidecar… or as we joke together during our live shows “RunawaySidecar.com“… always about the “dot com”.
In any case, my amazingly talented friend and the drummer I’ve worked with here in Cincinnati for almost 6 years now, Bobby Sharp, introduced me to his “technical” friend, Dan Marshall maybe 4 years ago. I don’t think either of us really knew the other as a “musician” but more as a fellow computer geek as we both have been in the technology/graphic design industry our entire lives (too).
When we realized that we were both professional long-time singers and entertainers, over a few months, LoopManDan (with his live looping extravaganza… so talented!) and I hit a few fantastic fellow-musician-friend’s open mic nights together with other fellow musician friends out for an evening of great music. (Jordan Frankly Speaking, Millions Cafe in Mt. Lookout Wednesdays. Todd Hepburn, Brew River Gastro Pub, Thursdays. Ronnie Vaughn, By Golly’s in Milford, Tuesdays and a couple more… Cincinnati has a great open mic scene… always quality musicians hanging with these professional hosts). We had fun combining our wide-range and styles of music. We invited each other to start joining in on already booked gigs – everything from Broadway shows, Children’s holiday shows, bars and clubs… which eventually became… new Runaway Sidecar gigs.
